Safety guide

Emergency, Incident or Complaint?

How to choose an emergency, incident or complaint pathway.

Choose the safest next step. You can use more than one pathway for the same event.

Emergency

Call 000

Someone is in immediate danger or needs urgent police, fire or ambulance help.

Incident

Make the person safe

An event, act or omission caused—or could have caused—harm. Tell HelpAlong promptly so it can respond and meet any reporting duties.

Complaint

Say what was not right

Share dissatisfaction, including anonymously, with HelpAlong or directly with the NDIS Commission.

Write down what you know

Record the date, place, people involved, what happened, immediate actions and the outcome you want. Do not investigate or put yourself at risk. Preserve relevant information and respect privacy.

Independent help

The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission accepts complaints on 1800 035 544. You can also ask an advocate, interpreter or trusted person to help.

Current primary sources

Check official information

NDIS rules, pricing and guidance can change. Use these official sources when making a decision about your circumstances.
