Community access and participation support helps you take part in activities, places and relationships that matter to you. It might be about trying something new, keeping an important routine or becoming more confident doing things with less support over time.
What would you like to be part of?
We start with your interests and goals rather than a fixed activity list. Depending on your plan and the support agreed, this might include:
- joining a local group, class, club or community event
- visiting the library, shops, park or recreation facilities
- maintaining friendships and social connections
- learning to use public transport or follow a familiar route
- building communication, money-handling or planning skills in real settings
- attending appointments or volunteering activities.
One-to-one or shared support
Support may be individual or shared where this is suitable, funded and agreed. We explain the support ratio and how it affects choice, timing and costs.
Choice without pressure
You can say what you do and do not want to try. We plan reasonable safety measures without taking over decisions you can make.
Planning for a good experience
Before an activity, we consider accessibility, transport, communication, personal care, medication, food, sensory needs, weather and what to do if plans change. Entry fees, meals, tickets and other ordinary activity costs are usually separate from the worker’s support cost, so we make this clear in advance.
Common questions
Can I choose the activity?
Yes. Activities should connect with your preferences and goals. We also check that the requested support is within funding, available capacity and reasonable safety arrangements.
Are transport and entry fees included?
Not automatically. Transport arrangements and activity costs depend on your plan, the service agreement and the activity. We explain expected costs before support is confirmed.
NDIS Core supports may include assistance with social and community participation, but not every participant has the same budget or support categories. Check your approved plan and service agreement.
